Lander opens up 2017 campaign against North Greenville

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team kicks off its 2017 campaign on Thursday as the Bearcats host North Greenville at 5:00 p.m. at Van Taylor Stadium.

• Thursday's match marks the 12th time the Bearcats have faced the Crusaders in program history.

• Lander owns an 11-1 series lead has won the last 11 meetings in the series, dating back to 1999. 

• The Bearcats defeated NGU 3-1 in 2015 on goals from Logan Lewis, Sara Flores and Kayla Walker

• 2017 marks the 20th season of Lander women's soccer. The Bearcats own a 150-148-25 record all-time.  

• The Bearcats return six regular starters from last season's squad (Sara Flores, Kari George, Emily Jermstad, Victoria Lange, Logan Lewis, Kayla Walker). 

• Four Bearcats were named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team in 2016 (Sara Flores, Logan Lewis, Katie Maivelett, Hannah Martin). 

• Lander saw two of its five largest home crowds in program history last season, drawing 275 fans against Belmont Abbey and 287 against Flagler.
