Taylor's hat trick leads Lander to 3-1 win over Emmanuel

GREENWOOD – Behind a standout performance from freshman Brianna Taylor, the Lander women's soccer team defeated Emmanuel, 3-1, in the 2016 season opener at Van Taylor Stadium.

The 1-0 Bearcats will host Belmont Abbey at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, in a non-conference contest. Emmanuel begins the season at 0-1.

Taylor netted the first goal of the season for Lander on an assist from fellow freshman Emily Jermstad 27:21 into the first half

Emmanuel answered on a goal from Stephanie Lamm at 31:05, but the Bearcats quickly retook the lead on another Taylor goal at the 34:23 mark, this time on an assist from Sara Flores.  

Lander ended the scoring on Taylor's third goal of the night off a Logan Lewis assist at 81:11

The Bearcats outshot the Lions, 18-5, including an 11-1 advantage in shots on goal.
