AMERICUS, Ga.----The Lander women's soccer team remained undefeated in Peach Belt Conference play Saturday afternoon as Aisha Reid scored two goals and five other Lady Bearcats found the back of the net in a 7-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Georgia Southwestern.
Lander improves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the PBC, while the Lady Hurricanes slip to 0-10, 0-2.
Monica Magnani got the Lady Bearcats off to a 1-0 lead at 6:09 on an assist from Rachel Datz. Jessica Skowron gave Lander a 2-0 advantage when she teamed for the third time in two games on a corner kick from Jannica Finnberg. Stacey Copeland netted an unassisted goal at 32:01 to give Lander a 3-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Reid scored an unassisted goal at 49:38; Georgie Mahon netted a goal on a double-assist from Reid and Copeland at 54:24; and Reid fired her second goal on a double assist from Sabrina Backlund at 67:05. Backlund scored Lander' s final goal at 69:00 on an assist from Mahon.
Jennifer Pittman scored the Lady Hurricanes' lone goal at 77:28.
Lander outshot Georgia Southwestern, 21-3, and led in corner kicks, 5-1.
Lander goalkeeper Rachel Hine played the first 60 minutes and was replaced by by Katherine Baltz, who had one save. GSW's Christy Drabek was credited with six saves, while Samantha Hatley had two.
