Women's golf to return to Lander after one-year absence

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's golf program, which last competed in the fall of 2015, will return to action, Athletics Director Brian Reese announced today.

"We are excited that women's golf will be back at Lander, "Reese said. "Our women's golf program has been highly successful and we look forward to the return of the program."

Lander began its women's golf program in 2011-12 and the Bearcats finished in the top-five of the Peach Belt Conference Championships all four years of the program, winning the PBC title in 2013.

The Bearcats will commence team play in 2017-18 against a limited schedule, with the team eligible for the Peach Belt Conference championship and NCAA postseason play beginning in 2018-19.

The women's golf team will partner with the Greenwood Country Club, which will serve as the home course for the men and women's programs.

"The Greenwood Country Club has been a great partner for our men's golf program," said Reese, "and we are happy to continue that wonderful partnership with our women's program."

Women's golf joins men's and women's cross country as Lander's newest athletic programs on campus. Lander will become the eighth PBC school to compete in women's golf.
