Bearcats head into first-place battle with Flagler on Saturday

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's basketball team (10-2, 5-1 PBC) prepares to fight for sole possession of first place in the Peach Belt Conference on Saturday afternoon as the Bearcats tangle with Flagler (7-2, 5-0 PBC) at 1:30 p.m. in Finis Horne Arena.

• Kevin Pederson's defensive system continues to produce results. Lander ranks fifth in the nation in turnover margin (+7.58) and ninth in turnover forced per game (24.6) and steals per game (13.7).  

• Senior Breshay Johnson set a school record with 17 made free throws in Wednesday's victory over UNC Pembroke. Johnson leads the PBC with 60 made free throws this season. 

• Sophomore Jessica Harris turned in her finest performance of the year on Wednesday, tallying 18 points and eight rebounds, both season highs. 

• The Bearcats are aiming for their sixth consecutive victory over the Saints. 

• Lander has won 14 consecutive games at Finis Horne Arena. 

• Lander has held its last four opponents to under 60 points. The Bearcats last held four consecutive teams under 60 points from Jan. 21-Feb. 1, 2015. 

• Flagler leads the PBC in field goal percentage (45.7) and defensive rebounds per game (32.2).
