No. 15 Bearcats set to start season against No. 24 Lincoln Memorial

Aiken, S.C. – The No. 15-ranked Lander women's basketball team is set to open its 2017-18 campaign against No. 24-ranked Lincoln Memorial in the PBC/SAC Challenge at 5:30 p.m on Friday. The fifth-annual conference crossover is being hosted by USC Aiken for the first time.

• The Bearcats lost just one senior from a team last season that topped the Peach Belt Conference's East Division and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

• Lander was tabbed to finish 1st in the PBC Preseason Coaches Poll.

• Senior center Breshay Johnson is back in her senior season after averaging a team-best and a PBC third-best 16.8 points per game.

• Lander returns three starters from last season that averaged over 10 points per game. After Johnson, senior guard Mylea McKenith is back after averaging 16.3 points per game. Additionally, sophomore Jessica Harris is set to return after averaging 10.2 points per game in her freshman campaign.

• Lincoln Memorial also enters the 2017-18 season after a trip to the NCAA Tournament in March. The Railsplitters won the SAC regular season title in 2017 before advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

• Friday's game is the first of three contests in which the Bearcats will take on SAC opponents. Lander will matchup with Carson-Newman on Saturday before hosting Wingate on Nov. 21st.
