Patriots triumph over Lander to snap winning streak

FLORENCE, S.C. – Lander's Myela McKenith scored 22 points Wednesday night, but the Bearcats could not overcome a cold shooting night, falling to Francis Marion, 71-61, in a Peach Belt Conference contest at the Smith University Center.

The loss snapped Lander's nine-game winning streak.

FMU improves to 15-11 overall and 10-7 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 19-6, (12-4).

McKenith also grabbed six rebounds and three steals, while Ty'hesha Reynolds and Jessica Harris each posted 10 points for the Bearcats.

Shaunice Fulmore led the Patriots with 19 points, while Tete Flowers added 16 points on the night. Kristin Tines grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for FMU. 

Francis Marion connected on 29-of-61 field goals (47.5 percent), 1-of-10 threes (10 percent) and 12-of-19 free throws (63.2 percent).

Lander made 24-of-62 field goals (38.7 percent), including 4-of-18 threes (22.2 percent), and 12-of-19 foul shots (63.2 percent).

FMU outrebounded Lander, 44-32.
