Buchholz, Fuller and Sheriff make PBC All-Academic team

GREENWOOD – The Lander softball team placed three players – Arielle Buchholz, Sarah Fuller and Brittney Sheriff – on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Softball Team which was announced Wednesday.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must: 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor, 2) achieve a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and 3) have completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution.

A two-time All-PBC selection, Sheriff, a junior nursing major from Belton, S.C., played in 48 games and led the team in hitting with a .405 batting average. She totaled four triples, eight doubles and 13 RBI as the Bearcats leadoff hitter. In PBC statistics, she is second in triples, fourth in batting average, fifth in hits (64), and sixth in on-base percentage (.454).

Buchholz, a sophomore mass communications major from Naples, Fla., played in all 52 games and batted .238 with two doubles and 12 RBI.

Fuller, a sophomore athletic training major from Elberton, Ga., played in 41 games and batted .290 with one home run, five doubles and six RBI.
