No. 7 men's tennis caps regular season with shutout of Georgia Southwestern

AMERICUS, Ga. – The No. 7-ranked Lander men's tennis team ended its regular season with a 7-0 shutout victory over Georgia Southwestern on Saturday afternoon. 

Lander (16-4, 7-2 PBC) posted its fifth shutout of the season and recorded at least seven victories in conference play for the ninth straight season. Georgia Southwestern (4-15, 0-8) ends its season on Sunday against Francis Marion.

6-1 wins from Tommaso Rossin and Gabriel Balestero at the No. 3 spot and Axel Cronje and Adam Elliget at No. 1 clinched the doubles point for Lander, followed by a 6-3 win from No. 2 tandem Ozan Cildir and Omar El-Moslemany

El-Moslemany opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 win on court four, followed by a 6-1, 6-2 victory for Eirik Groner at No. 1 to put the Bearcat up 3-0. Elliget secured the win with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at the No. 3 spot. Thomas De Negri posted a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 and Philippe Courteau followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5. Liam Roos closed out the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win on court six. 

The Bearcats will return to action in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Friday in Florence, S.C.
