GREENWOOD – The Lander men's soccer team swept the Peach Belt Conference weekly awards, the league office announced today. Jordan Skelton was named PBC Player of the Week, Kyle Ferguson was tabbed as the PBC Defender of the Week and Jacob Withers earned PBC Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
The honors mark the second time in men's soccer history that Lander has won all three weekly awards.
Skelton netted home both goals in Lander's 2-1 win over Carson-Newman on Wednesday. He then helped the Bearcats blank North Georgia for the team's eighth shutout of the season.
Ferguson anchored a Bearcat defense that allowed only one goal in two matches, including the shutout of the Nighthawks. The sophomore also scored his second goal of the season, heading home the eventual game-winner against North Georgia.
Withers picked up his second weekly honor after playing all 180 minutes in the two wins last week. He made five saves against North Georgia to post his fifth shutout in seven starts this year.
The 10th-ranked Bearcats face Chowan on the road in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon.
