No. 10 men's soccer faces non-conference test against West Alabama

GREENWOOD – The 10th-ranked Lander men's soccer team steps out of conference play as the Bearcats host West Alabama at Van Taylor Stadium at 5:00 p.m. on Monday night.

STORYLINES

• Lander (7-0-1) is 9-1 in its last 10 non-conference matches at home. 

• West Alabama (4-3-1) is trying to snap a two-match losing streak, its longest since September of 2016. 

• Monday marks the first ever meeting between the Bearcats and Tigers. Both teams advanced to their region championships last season. 

• The Bearcats have not allowed a goal since the 61:07 mark against Tusculum on Sept. 8, a stretch of 498:53 of action. Only the 2013 team, which shut out its first six opponents and did not allow a goal over the first 619:08 season, has a longer shutout streak in program history. 

• Lander leads the Peach Belt Conference with six shutouts this year. The Bearcats are allowing 0.36 goals per match, best in the league.  

• 11 different Bearcats have scored through the first eight matches of the season. 

• Lander ranks second in the conference in attendance, averaging 364 fans per home match.
