Lander men's soccer thrives during summer season

GREENWOOD  With less than a month until the 2017 season opener for the Lander men's soccer team, LanderBearcats.com takes a look at the summer performances of the Bearcats. 

Eight Lander men's soccer players participated in summer leagues.

Richard Bryan | D | Mississippi Brilla FC

  • Played in all 17 matches for Mississippi Brilla FC, helping lead the club to the Premier Developmental League Championship Semifinals.
  • One of only five players on the team to log over 1,000 regular season minutes of action.
  • Netted one goal on 11 shots and recorded two assists during the regular season.
  • Scored in PDL Southern Conference Championship Semifinals and netted match-winning penalty kick goal in Southern Conference Championship

Ian Foulger | D | Tri-Cities Otters

  • Played in seven matches, attempting five shots.
  • Part of Otter defense that set club record for fewest goals allowed.

Alex Garner | D | Lansing United

  • Regular at center back for Lansing United of the National Premier Soccer League
  • Helped lead team to fourth-place finish in NPSL Midwest Conference Great Lakes Division

Sia Jamedar | D | Tri-Cities Otters

  • Played in 11 matches.
  • Helped team triple win total from last season. 

George Knight | D | Lansing United

  • Featured at right back during first half of the season.
  • Helped Lansing hold opponents scoreless in first four matches of the summer. 

Sam Lofts | F | South Georgia Tormenta FC

  • Finished second on the team with five goals on just seven shots. 
  • Only player in the PDL to score at least five goals in less than 250 minutes of action.
  • Became the all-time leading goal-scorer in South Georgia Tormenta FC history with nine toal goals in two seasons.

Sinclaire Sandy | M | Mississippi Brilla FC

  • Played in all 17 matches.
  • Tied for team lead with three assists on the season.
  • Assisted on Richard Bryan's goal in the PDL Southern Conference Championship Semifinals. 

Jordan Skelton | D | Mississippi Brilla FC

  • Tallied two goals on seven shots and one assist in 16 matches.
  • Scored Mississippi Brila FC's lone goal in the PDL Premier Championship Semifinals.

Additionally, Lofts, Oliver Brock and Thibault Chretien were part of a team that faced the US National U17 team in an exhibition match.
