No. 16 men's golf tied for fourth after day one at PBC Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The No. 16-ranked Lander men's golf team carded a 298 total during its first round to move into a tie for fourth at the Peach Belt Conference Championship on Monday.

The Bearcats' 10-over score matched host Flagler, while Young Harris posted a 9-over to sit in third after the opening 18 holes. USC Aiken leads the field with a 4-under 284 and Columbus State sits in second with a 2-under 286.

USC Aiken produced the day's low individual score with Johnson Holliday posting a 4-under 68 to stand two shots clear of a trio of players. 

Michael Brodie was one of nine players to tie for sixth individually with an even 72 on the day. The sophomore eagled the par-4, 411-yard 14th hole to highlight a 1-under effort on the back nine. 

Conor Richards and Garrett Atkinson both carded an opening round 3-over 75 to tie for 22nd, while James Bartlett is tied for 27th after firing a 4-over 76. Jon Parker rounded out the Bearcat lineup with a 5-over 77 to tie for 30th. 

Lander will tee off for round two at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning and will be paired with Georgia College and Flagler.
