No. 19 Bearcats grab second place in Valdosta after first round

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 19-ranked Lander men's golf team opened play at the Southeast Invitational with a 279 tally to move into second place on Sunday at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

The Bearcats used their 9-under score to move within two shots of West Florida at the par-72, 7,363-yard layout. Rollins posted a 6-under 282 to finish the day in third place. 

Conor Richards was one of two Bearcats to log a sub-70 round on the day, firing a 66 to tie for second. Jon Parker posted a 5-under 67 to stand in a tie for fifth place. 

Michael Brodie finished three strokes back of Parker to tie for 13th place. Garrett Atkinson carded a 76 to tie for 67th and James Bartlett tied for 80th with a 79. 

Lander will begin its second round tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with West Florida and Rollins. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
