No. 7 Bearcats ready for Peach Belt Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.  The No. 7-ranked Lander men's golf team begins the postseason this weekend at the Peach Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship, Friday through Sunday (April 14-16), at the par-72, 6,939-yard Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla.

The field features all 11 PBC teams; Lander, No. 16 USC Aiken, No. 21 Flagler, No. 23 Young Harris, Armstrong State, Clayton State, Columbus State, Georgia College, Georgia Southwestern, Montevallo and North Georgia.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 9:54 a.m. on Friday morning. Lander will begin play Friday paired with USC Aiken and Young Harris at 11:54 a.m.

The Bearcats are searching for their first conference title in program history. Lander is participating in the PBC Tournament for the 12th time ever. The Bearcats have finished fifth in the tournament three times, including last season. 

Lander has finished in the top-five in eight of its nine events this season, including a win two weekends ago at the Bearcat Classic in Greenwood. The Bearcats are ranked sixth in the nation according to the Golfstat Relative Rankings, the highest of any team in the conference. 

Senior Michal Pospisil is the defending PBC Tournament Individual champion. Pospisil is looking to become the fourth player in league history to win two PBC Tournament titles and the third player to win championships in consecutive seasons. He is the only player in Bearcat history to finish under-par at the PBC Tournament, shooting two-under in 2015 and 2016.
