Pruett selected PBC Player of the Week
GREENWOOD - Lander's David Pruett, a 6-4, wing from Sugar Hill, Ga., was selected the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for his performance last Saturday against Southern Wesleyan.
In the 98-91 win over the Warriors, Pruett scored a team-high 34 points in Lander's only game of the week. The sophomore hit 11-of-19 shots from the field and 7-of-12 from three-point range to go along with all five of his free throw attempts. He also grabbed six rebounds and had one blocked shot.

GREENWOOD – No. 10 ranked Montevallo University and the Lander Bearcats fought a close battle, then endured a tornado warning delay in the second half before Montevallo was able to pull away for a 71-58 Peach Belt Conference victory Tuesday night at Horne Arena.
Lander fell to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the Peach Belt. The Falcons improved to 5-0, 1-0.

Division I Winthrop pulls away from Lander with late run
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Facing a Division I program that has advanced to the NCAA Tournament nine of the past 12 years, the Lander Bearcats met the challenge by battling Winthrop University to a tie over the first 27 minutes of the game. But the Eagles used a 22-3 run to break the final tie and pulled away from Lander, 65-46, Saturday night at Winthrop Coliseum.
The Division II Bearcats, who battled to a 38-all tie with 13 minutes left in the game, fell to 3-2 overall. The Eagles, who broke the 38-all tie with 15 unanswered points, improved to 3-3.

GREENWOOD – UNC Pembroke's Chris Hargrove posted a double-double, helping the Braves hand the Lander Bearcats their first loss of the season, 71-65, in the Peach Belt Conference opener Tuesday night at Horne Arena.
Hargrove led the Braves (4-1 overall, 1-0 PBC) with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Nate Priest scored 13 points, and Cody Hughes added 12 points.

Lander's 12-man roster has only one returning player from last year, point guard Tovi Bailey. The rest of the squad is made up of transfers and freshmen.

Athletes in Action squeaks past Lander
GREENWOOD – Calvin Liptrot and Tovi Bailey combined for 41 points, but the Lander Bearcats lost 76-72 to Athletes in Action in an exhibition game Saturday afternoon at Finis Horne Arena.
Liptrot hit 10 of 13 shots from the floor and led all scorers with 24 points in his debut at Horne Arena, Bailey scored 17 points, and David Pruett added 13 points for Lander. Jermel Kennedy paced the Bearcats with seven rebounds while Bailey had eight assists. Quentin Bastian blocked two shots.

Bearcats to host Athletes in Action in exhibition Nov. 6
GREENWOOD - The Lander men's basketball team will host Athletes in Action at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, in an exhibition game in Horne Arena.
Athletes in Action, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, is a collection of former collegiate player who spread the word of Jesus Christ. During the halftime break, several of the players will give testimonies.
