GREENWOOD – Lander junior outfielder Roury Glanton has been named the Peach Belt Conference's Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Glanton paced the Bearcats by going 8-for-18 (.444) with four runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and 14 runs batted in. The junior homered twice against Georgia Southwestern, breaking a 3-3 tie in the second game on Saturday with a three-run blast in the eighth inning to lead Lander to a 6-4 victory.
The left fielder recorded two hits in all four games on the week, extending his hitting streak to six games. Glanton has hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games.
A Carrolton, Ga., native, Glanton is batting .298 with two doubles, and a team-leading 11 home runs and 33 RBI. He ranks second in the PBC in home runs and sixth in the league in slugging percentage.
Glanton, who was also named PBC Player on the Week on Feb. 5, becomes the first Bearcat in program history to earn Player of the Week honors multiple times in a single season.
