Bearcats begin PBC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon

FLORENCE, S.C. – The seventh-seeded Lander baseball team opens Peach Belt Conference tournament play on Wednesday against in-state rival and second-seeded USC Aiken at 1:30 p.m., at the Sparrow Stadium

• Lander (21-29, 11-13 PBC) is participating in its seventh Peach Belt Conference tournament. The Bearcats own an 11-10 all-time record in tournament play. Lander is searching for its second tournament championship in program history (2014). 

• The Bearcats are 6-0 all-time in PBC Tournament openers. 

• Lander is meeting USC Aiken in the PBC tournament for the fourth time. The Bearcats trail USCA 2-1 in PBC tournament play. The two teams met in last year's tournament, when Lander fell to USC Aiken, 7-4. 

• The teams squared off in a three-game series in Greenwood on March 24-26. Lander upset then No. 23-ranked USC Aiken with walkoff wins in the second and third games of the series. 

• The Bearcats are tied for 12th in the nation with 66 home runs this season.

• Lander has appeared in three PBC Tournament championship games (2012, 2014, 2016).  

• The Bearcats are appearing in the tournament for the sixth time in the past seven seasons.
