Tough midweek test awaits Lander against Lenoir-Rhyne

GREENWOOD – The Lander baseball team returns home Wednesday night for its second non-conference contest of the week, as the Bearcats play host to Lenior-Rhyne at 6:00 p.m. at Dolny Stadium.

STORYLINES

 Lander (18-25) held a two-run lead against Belmont Abbey entering the ninth inning on Tuesday night, but fell as the Crusaders rallied for a 7-6 win.  

• The Bearcats are 4-3 this year in games decided by one run. 

• Junior outfielder Alec Dowell has homered in each of Lander's last two non-conference games. Dowell launched a solo shot in last week's win over Claflin and blasted a three-run homer in the loss to Belmont Abbey. 

• Lander ranks second in the Peach Belt Conference with 58 home runs on the year.

• The Bearcats have recorded multiple home runs in 17 games this season, going 12-5 in those contests.

• Lenior-Rhyne leads the all-time series with Lander 8-7. The Bears have won the last two meetings. 

• Lander is averaging 319 fans per home game this season, third-highest in the Peach Belt Conference.
