Lander baseball picked 4th in PBC preseason poll

GREENWOOD - The Lander baseball team is picked to finish fourth of 13 teams this season in the Peach Belt Conference according to a coaches' preseason poll which was released today. (Full Release)

The Bearcats, who finished second in the league last season and advanced to the PBC Tournament championship before winning the Southeast Regional, earned one first-place vote and received 97 total points. 

USC Aiken garnered seven first-place votes and is the top-ranked team with 135 points. Columbus State received four first-place votes, while North Georgia earned one.

Columbus State came in second with 129 points and is followed by: 3. North Georgia 113, 4. Lander 97, 5. Georgia College 94, 6. Montevallo 83, 7. Flagler 80, 8. UNC Pembroke 74, 9. Francis Marion 68, 10. Augusta 63, 11. Armstrong State 38, 12. Young Harris 22, and 13. Georgia Southwestern 18.

Lander, which is ranked No. 28 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's national preseason poll, opens the season at 12 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, on the road against No. 33 Mount Olive.
