Lander to face Central Missouri in CWS first-round game

GREENWOOD - The Southeast Region champion Lander Bearcats will face Central Missouri at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 29, in the first round of the NCAA Division II College World Series it was announced by the NCAA Monday night after the Bearcats defeated USC Aiken, 5-3, in the Southeast Region Tournament hosted by Columbus State University at Burger King Field. The Bearcats, who improve to 42-14 overall, are making their second appearance in the College World Series in three years.

The national tournament will be held May 28 through June 4 and is hosted by the University of Mount Olive at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.

The Lander/Central Missouri winner, who are placed in Bracket Two, will face the Nova Southeastern/Franklin Pierce winner at at 7 p.m., Tuesday.

The Lander/Central Missouri loser will drop into the loser's bracket and face the Nova Southeastern/Franklin Pierce loser at 3 p.m., Tuesday.

Bracket One will feature Angelo State versus Millersville in one game, and Southern Indiana versus the Cal Poly Pomona in the other.
