Lander baseball moves up to No. 22 in national rankings

GREENWOOD - The Lander baseball team jumped three spots to No. 22 this week in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's national rankings which were released Monday.

Last week, Lander defeated Southern Wesleyan in a non-conference game, then took two of three in its Peach Belt Conference series against then-No. 7 Columbus State.

St. Cloud State (15-0) took over as the top team in the country and is followed by: 2. Tampa (21-3), 3. Millersville (19-1), 4. Franklin Pierce (17-2), 5. Colorado Mesa (21-4), 6. West Alabama (22-5), 7. USC Aiken (22-5), 8. Cal State Monterey Bay (18-4), 9. Florida Southern (17-7), and 10. Lubbock Christian (18-6).

The next 10 are: 11. East Stroudsburg (19-2), 12. Cal Baptist (21-5), 13. Quincy (12-3), 14. Southern New Hampshire (14-2), 15. Emporia State (18-5), 16. Belmont Abbey (23-5-1), 17. Columbus State (21-7), 18. Missouri-St. Louis (12-3), 19. Missouri Southern (15-5), and 20. West Texas A&M (19-7).

Rounding out the poll are: 21. Indianapolis (13-5), 22. Lander (23-6), 23. U.C. San Diego (20-7), 24. Dixie State (20-6), 25. Seton Hill (15-5) and Texas A&M Kingsville (16-7), 27. Chico State (17-6), 28. Lynn (17-9), 29. Delta State (17-9), and 30. St. Edward's (20-7).
