Baseball's Dodd named PBC Freshman of the Week

GREENWOOD - Lander baseball's Mason Dodd, a freshman from Augusta, Ga., was named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week after his performances in four games last week.

Dodd, a third baseman, batted .500 with nine RBIs as he started all four games for the Bearcats. He hit .500 in a three-game series at Columbus State, driving in all nine of his runs. He went 3-for-4 in the first and second games, driving in four runs in each as Lander moved to the top of the PBC standings.

He collected his ninth RBI of the weekend in the third game despite not getting a hit. He walked twice for a .556 on-base percentage and had a .563 slugging percentage with a double in the mid-week outing against Southern Wesleyan.

In the field he was just as solid with no errors in 19 chances at third base with one double play turned. Dodd is hitting .337 his first year with 24 RBIs.
