GREENWOOD - Colby Lusignan and John Mangum both homered, Will Jones earned his first win on the mound, and Brandon White was awarded his third save of the season as the No. 32-ranked Lander baseball team defeated No. 37 Flagler, 6-3, Friday night in their Peach Belt Conference opener at Dolny Stadium.

Lander improves to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the PBC, while Flagler drops to 1-2, 0-1. The two teams will face each other again at 1 p.m., Saturday, and close out the series at noon Sunday.

Flagler's Mike O'Reilly (1-1) suffered the loss after striking out six, walking two and allowing four earned runs on three hits in six innings.

Lusignan crushed his second home run of the season, a two-run shot to left centerfield, to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Flagler's Frankie Sagarese came back with a solo homer to left center in the fourth to trim the margin to 2-1, but Lander added three more scores in the sixth on Mangum's three-run blast off the centerfield wall.

Sagarese's two-RBI single to left field plated Dylan Jones and Kolin McMillen to cut the Lander advantage in the seventh.

The Bearcats closed out the scoring in the bottom of the inning when Zach Daly drove in Mason Dodd with a right field single.

For Lander, Lusignan went 2-for-4, while Taylor Kellner stole three bases.
