Baseball closes out season with 7-4 win at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Lander baseball team completed its regular season Tuesday when the Bearcats defeated Pfeiffer University, 7-4, in a non-conference game at Joe Ferebee Field.

Lander completes the season at 22-26 overall, while Pfeiffer drops to 26-20.

Starter J.D. Waite (3-0) earned the win for Lander on the mound after striking out five and allowing one earned run on seven hits in seven innings.

Pfeiffer's Drew Wilson (0-6) took the loss, striking out two, walking one and allowing three earned runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of action.

Aaron Poole and Weston Lawing both had RBI doubles in the second inning to put the Bearcats up 3-0.

After Pfeiffer scored in the bottom half on Izzy Perez's solo homer, Lander countered with Chris Hyatt's solo shot in the third.

Lander extended its advantage to 7-1 in the fourth on Colby Lusignan's three-run roundtripper.

Pfeiffer's late rally fell short with two runs in the eight and one in the ninth.

Lawing batted 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Hyatt added two hits.
