GREENWOOD – Lander outfielder Weston Lawing had a big game, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats dropped a Peach Belt Conference baseball game to Georgia College 10-6 Saturday at Dolny Stadium.

Lander fell to 21-22 overall and 10-16 in the Peach Belt. The Bobcats improved to 22-15, 10-10.

The teams have split the first two games of the series and play the tie-breaker Sunday at 1 at Dolny Stadium.

Lawing was 3-for-5 with a single, double, homer, two runs scored and three RBI, and was also robbed of a hit by Georgia College shortstop Brandon Benson.

Lander took a 1-0 lead in the third when Lawing reached on a bloop double that dropped between the center fielder and two infielders, and scored on Thomas Berry's two-out double off the right field wall.

Georgia College took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth, benefiting from a pair of singles, two errors and a hit batsman. Clay Ardeeser reached on an error, moved to third on Dylan Cook's single and scored on an error on the throw. Steve Hazel was hit by a pitch, Logan Mattix reached on a bunt single, Colton Montgomery plated a run on a fielder's choice, and Hazel scored as Montgomery stole second.

The Bearcats tied it in the bottom of the fourth when Taylor Kellner reached on an infield single and scored on Lawing's two-out, two-run homer over the left-field fence, his fifth of the season.

The Bobcats regained a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth when Jake Sandlin singled and scored on Ardeeser's double down the first-base line.

Georgia College upped its lead to 7-3 in the eighth when Cook walked, moved to second on a ground out, stole third, and scored when Mattix singled through a drawn-in infield past second base. Montgomery reached on an infield single, and Tanner Giesel belted a two-out, two-run double to right center.

Lander drew closer in the bottom of the eighth, pulling within 7-5. Kellner was hit by a pitch, John Mangum walked for the third time, and each moved up on a wild pitch. Kellner scored on Zach Giczewski's ground out, and Mangum came home on Lawing's single to right.

Ardeeser hit a solo homer to right in the ninth, making it 8-5. It was his fifth of the season. Hazel was hit by a pitch and Mattix followed with his third homer of the year, a two-run shot to left that increased the lead to 10-5.

Lander's Colby Lusignan hit a solo homer to center in the bottom of the ninth. It was his eighth of the season, tying him for the team lead.

While Lawing led the Bearcats with three hits, Lusignan went 2-for-3 with a homer while Kellner was 2-for-4 with two runs.

Mattix paced Georgia College, going 4-for-5 with a homer, two runs and three RBI. Ardeeser went 2-for-5 with a homer, two runs and two RBI.

Lander starting pitcher Andrew Reardon (1-3) allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits in 7.1 innings. He struck out three and walked one. Brandon White gave up five runs on five hits in 1.2 innings of relief.

John Clark (3-1) was the winning pitcher in relief of Bobcats starter Jake Anthony, allowing just one run on one hit in three innings. Chris Gammon collected his fifth save.
