FLORENCE – The Francis Marion baseball team pounded out 11 hits Sunday and defeated Lander, 9-4, in Game 3 of their Peach Belt Conference series at Sparrow Stadium. The two teams split a doubleheader on Saturday.
FMU improves to 19-10 overall and 10-6 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 15-19, 7-14.
The Patriots' Jordy Santak (2-2) was awarded the win after striking out one and allowing one earned run on two hits in 7.1 innings pitched.
Lander's Andrew Reardon (1-2) took the loss with three strikeouts, five walks and three earned runs on four this in 4.1 innings.
Colby Painter put Lander up 1-0 in the first inning with a solo home run to right field, but the Patriots scored three runs in the bottom half when Casey Clauss advanced home on a fielder's choice and Matt Rubino's two-RBI single plated Conner Wessel and Cole Morris.
FMU retook the lead in the third when Rubino went home on a groundout. The Patriots made 5-3 in the fourth on Wessel's RBI single, then stretched it to 6-3 in the fifth on Zach Callahan's RBI single.
In the three-run sixth, FMU's Chandler Smetana drove in Rubino and Wessel with an RBI single up the middle and Randy Loew doubled in Smetana for a 9-3 advantage.
For the Bearcats, Jones batted 2-for-3.
