No. 3 Lander baseball defeats Claflin, 6-2, in 10 innings

ORANGEBURG - The No. 3-ranked Lander baseball team erupted for four runs in the 10th inning Wednesday afternoon to defeat Claflin University, 6-2, in a non-conference game at Mirmow Field.

Lander improves to 2-1 overall, while the Tigers drop to 1-3.

Zach Daly led off the Bearcat scoring in the final inning when he doubled in Matt White. Chris Hyatt followed with a two-run double that plated Daly and Weston Lawing. Will Jones later scored on a passed ball.

Brandon White (1-0), the 2014 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, earned the win on the mound for Lander after he struck out two, walked one and allowed two hits in 2.2 innings. Lander starter Kyle Boraski had six strikeouts and allowed two hits in six innings of work.

Claflin's Aaron Perry (0-1) took the loss for the Tigers, striking out one, walking one and allowing three earned runs on four hits in 3.1 innings.

Lander took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Daly's two-run double that plated Colby Painter and Taylor Kellner.

The Tigers knotted the game at 2-all in the eighth on RBI singles by Jabari Brown and Jesse Minter.

For Lander, Daly batted 3-for-4.
