Lawing, Painter, White named preseason All-Peach Belt

GREENWOOD - Lander baseball players Weston Lawing, Colby Painter and Brandon White were named to the Preseason All-Peach Belt Conference team it was announced today by the league office. The team is nominated by and voted on by the PBC's head baseball coaches.

Lawing is a senior outfielder from Belmont, N.C.; Painter a senior third baseman from Chesnee, S.C.; and White a sophomore relief pitcher from Chapin, S.C. The trio helped lead the 2014 Bearcat team to a program best 52-9 record, which included Lander's first PBC regular-season and tournament championships, the Southeast Region title and the school's first appearance in the College World Series.

Last season Lawing, who was named to the All-PBC team in 2013 and 2014, batted .319 with six home runs, one triple, 23 doubles, 61 runs scored, 58 RBI, 25 walks and six stolen bases.

Painter, who was named to the All-PBC team last year, was also a one-time NCBWA National Hitter of the Week and PBC Player of the Week. He batted .332 with 11 homeruns, four triples, 16 doubles, 46 runs scored, 33 walks and 67 RBI (sixth in NCAA Division II).

White, who was named the PBC Freshman of the Year, posted a 4-2 overall record with a school-record 12 saves. In 29 appearances, he recorded a 0.89 ERA with 51 strikeouts and only 21 hits.
