Wolchik selected Peach Belt Pitcher of the Week

GREENWOOD - Dylan Wolchik, a senior on the Lander baseball team, was selected the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the league office today.

Wolchik, Margate, Fla., pitched 7.2 innings in the first game of a PBC series sweep against Armstrong Atlantic that propelled the No. 2-ranked Bearcats to the PBC regular-season title. The senior righty gave up five hits and two earned runs, while walking two and striking out seven in a 3-2 win over the Pirates on Friday.

He improved his win-loss record to 9-1. Wolchik retired the first nine batters he faced in order and had four innings where he retired the side in order. He is one of four pitchers to lead the conference in wins; he is also 10th in ERA (3.69), ninth in strikeouts (69) and fourth in innings pitched (90.1).

In addition to being voted to the All-PBC first team last season, Wolchik was named Honorable Mention All-American by the National Collegiate Sports Writers Association (NCBWA), and was selected to the NCBWA, Daktronics and Rawlings/ABCA All-Southeast Region teams.
