Baseball now No. 2 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll

GREENWOOD - The Lander baseball team, which won its school-record 39th victory on Saturday, moved up one spot to No. 2 this week in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's national rankings it was released today.

Last week, the Bearcats stretched their winning streak to nine games when they defeated Anderson, 11-4, Stillman, 9-4, and took two from the University of North Alabama, 4-0 and 4-3.

Lander will next host Erskine College at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 22.

Tampa (42-2) remained atop the poll with 480 points and is followed by: 2. Lander (39-6) 462, 3. Minnesota State (34-7) 440, 4. West Florida (30-6) 402, 5. Arkansas Tech (36-8) 396, 6. Chico State (33-8) 394, 7. Delta State (30-9) 368, 8. Lynn (33-10) 366, 9. St. Cloud State (28-7) 364, and 10. Columbus State (34-12) 346.

Rounding out the top 20 are: 11. Cal-Poly Pomona (29-11) 326, 12. Mount Olive (36-11) 308, 13. Southern Arkansas (32-14) 268, 14. Colorado Mesa (31-8) 256, 15. St. Edward's (31-11) 254, 16. West Texas A&M (31-12) 236, 17. Central Missouri (32-13) 220, 18. Cal Baptist (31-11) 196, 19. Texas A&M-Kingsville (29-14) 192, and 20. Florida Southern (28-14) 178.
