GREENWOOD - Senior Patrick Grady, an outfielder from Pompano Beach, Fla., was named a preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association it was announced today (Jan. 30).
He is the first Lander baseball player in the 17-year history of the program to earn preseason All-American honors.
Last year, Grady was named to the second team on the NCBWA All-American team and third team on the Daktronics All-American team.
He led the Bearcats in hitting with a .380 average and had six home runs, two triples, 16 doubles, 61 runs scored and 47 RBI, while stealing 13-of-16 bases. In addition, he posted a .592 slugging percentage and .536 on-base percentage.
Grady, the Lander Male Athlete of the Year and team Most Valuable Player, was also named to the Rawling/ABCA, NCBWA and Daktronics All-Southeast Region teams, All-PBC team, the PBC Presidential Honor Roll for having a 3.0 or higher GPA for the academic year, and to the PBC baseball All-Academic team.
