Lander trio named to PBC All-Academic baseball team
GREENWOOD – The Lander baseball team placed three players – Patrick Grady, Erik Lunde and AJ Nunziato – on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Baseball Team which was announced Wednesday.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must: 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor, 2) achieve a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and 3) have completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution.
Grady, a sophomore biology major from Pompano Beach, Fla., has played in 48 games and is batting .331, which is second-best on the team, with five home runs, nine doubles and 35 RBI. In PBC statistics, Grady is first in the league in hit by pitches (29) and on-base percentage (.521)
Lunde, a sophomore mass communications major from Pompano Beach, Fla., has played in 44 games and is batting .243 with one triple, six doubles and 10 RBI. In PBC statistics, Lunde is fifth in the league in hit by pitches with 12.
Nunziato, a senior physical science major from South Setauket, N.Y., has played in 49 games and leads the team with a .373 batting average. He also has six home runs, four triples, 18 doubles and 45 RBI. In PBC statistics, Nunziato is second in doubles and triples, fourth in hits (75) and slugging percentage (.592), and fifth in batting average.
