Lander Duo Jayaprakash and Pugh Advance to ITA Cup Finals

ROME, Ga. - Lander's doubles tandem of Brendan Jayaprakash and Harry Pugh continued their stellar run at the 2025 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Cup, securing a spot in Sunday's Division II men's open doubles championship match after a dominant semifinal victory on Saturday.

Jayaprakash and Pugh opened their tournament run on Thursday with a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6 (7-4 TB) victory against Daniil Felker and Carel Wessel of the University of Texas at Tyler, the No. 3-seeded duo from the South Central region. The Lander pair held firm in a tense tiebreak to advance to the quarterfinals.

On Friday, they overcame Soeren Grandke (Azusa Pacific) and Mathys Pinoit (Azusa Pacific) in another straight-sets battle, 7-6 (7-0 TB), 6-1.

The Bearcats then pulled off their most impressive win of the tournament on Saturday, defeating the No. 1-seeded team of Kodai Kato (Saint Leo) and Jose David Segovia Perez (Saint Leo), 7-5, 6-3, to secure their spot in Sunday's title match.

The Lander pair will now face the No. 2-seeded team of Diego Duran (West Florida) and Sebastian Rondon (West Florida) in Sunday's ITA Cup Final at 11 a.m. ET on the Rome Tennis Center courts. The matchup pits two of the tournament's most balanced and experienced teams in what promises to be a thrilling finale in the race for a national title.
