GREENWOOD – Lander cross country head coach Kevin Scola announced the meet schedule for the upcoming 2018 season on Wednesday.
"We're going to see some of the top teams in the region from Division I and II," said Scola. "The competition and the courses we'll be racing on should prepare us for the Peach Belt Conference Championship meet in November. That's our big goal for the season, placing higher than we did last year."
The men's and women's cross country teams will kick off the season on August 31, traveling to Spartanburg, S.C., to take part in the Eye Opener Invitational. Two weeks later, both teams return to action at the Jaguar Invitational in Augusta, Ga., on September 15.
The Bearcats return to Spartanburg on September 29 for the Upstate Invite and will take part in the Koala Classic in Columbia, S.C., the following week. The regular season wraps up on October 20 when Lander will participate in the Bobcat Invitational in Milledgeville, Ga.
On November 3, the Bearcats will compete for a conference title at the Peach Belt Conference Championship in Beech Island, S.C. The NCAA Southeast Regional will be held in Dahlonega, Ga., on November 17.
